THIS VIDEO CONTAINS SPOILERS!!! (Don't say I didn't warn you.)
After over a year, it's finally been done. I've finished the Wonderboy vid! Special thanks to Matt, who supplied me with all of the footage I used. Mostly the first DVD which he lent me (I now have of my own as of this past summer) and the last episode in DivX format which didn't work but magically did earlier today. YAY! It's changed a lot since the last time I word with it. Well, the second half anyway. Major changes as you go further along. I don't know how many times I have seen Kamui get stabbed (both times) today but it's enough to drive a person insane. First there was something wrong with Video Factory that made it ask me to register again and so I was in demo mode till I got off the phone with E and could register online. I went through the last episode and took out the clips I wanted and was all ready to get into action when we hung up. I tried registering, but it wouldn't recognize that I had untill I restarted the program. Grrr. Note that it doesn't let you save when you're in demo mode. So I went through the episode again, slaved over what clip to use for the "crevasse" line (among other things) and rendered it. Only took about 12 mins to render. But the quality of the clips from the last fight are so good (GORGEOUS!!!) they are a bit choppy towards the top. >.<; And the video quality with those are better because they're from the DivX file and the others I captured with S-Video (it loves me). I don't know how they did it and I'm jealous.
Sorata was a lot of fun to lipsynch (although he had his moments), Arashi was more stubborn, and fuuma was the probably the easiest. Kamui, however, didn't want to co-operate until tonight, mostly because his lines were delivered while the camera was moving so it was hard to work with the frames individually without it looking jumpy. But I luckily found a clip for the "me.. and KG" line that was almost perfect! Just had to speed it up a bit and viola! As good as it's gonna get. (And on a side note, I had the radio on this whole time and the Rancid song with the line "If I fall back down, you're gonna help me back up again" and I noticed that it was synched to that one of the times I played the clip. o.O;) And one last thing about the lipsynching: Hinoto is the meanest, so I gave up on her, and the soccer goalie is speaking the "that's telekenisis, Kyle" line quite well with Arashi. Look for it. It's there.
Just some dates so you realize how long this video has been in the works. The summer before last Jay and I were listening to her Kazaa playlist when Wonderboy came on. This was after Jacon and we were in the midst of the X obsession. We listened to it and enjoyed the song's silliness when a certain idea started going around in our heads but neither really wanted to say anything. Then finally one of us was all "you know.." and the other was all "*cracks up* that's what I was thinking!" so we listened to it more closely. I'd say it was during the instrumental part that we started talking about it. After that it was just plain insane. The "secret of your power" lines, the "take out your broad sword" and "slice his throat!" was too much for us to bear. We laughed as it ended and our idea had been formed. Then.. inexplicably.. as we weren't sure if we would actually do it or not.. IT PLAYED AGAIN!!! We were scared. Very scared. Too freaky. So we listened to what we'd missed and decided then and there that it must be done. It was a commandment! A sign! An omen! Something. I dunno.
I don't know when the exact night this happened was (because goodness knows it was in the middle of the night in her computer room that all of this happened), but I found the lyrics to the song that I had copied off the internet and put into a wordpad file. I made the file on 7/30/2002 and downloaded a copy of the song the same night. Wow. On 9/10/02 I got the opening sequence from the DivX VCD and it was 4/21/03 that I did the capturing from Matt's DVD. I started the video editing on the same day, continued on 6/8/03 and finished on 9/12/03. I think there were times inbetween that I poked at it, but not many.
So, exusing all of the flashes, the strange thing going on towards the top of the video during the last bits, the unchronologicalness of it, and the all-right quality, I'm very proud of this video. Isn't the last fight scene animated really well? I wonder how much money went into it! (Probably whatever was left over in the budget, heeheehee.) I don't much like the part where Kamui gets all stabbed and stuff (at all.. in fact I downright hate that scene! Whole episode even!) but it went better with the flow than if I'd used the footage from fuuma and Kotori's mother's 'operation' when the blood spurts up like I was originally going to do. *Gives the poor boy a whole lot of bandaids. That should will it better!*
P.S. The reason the 'k' in Wonderkamui isn't capitalized is just because of the two kamuis rather than just Kamui himself. And the reason I list this this as a comedy, parody, fun, action, drama video is because it starts out silly and becomes progressively more serious towards the end. Confunsing, ne? Ok, I'll shut up now..
